AGREEMENT WITH EUROPEAN UNION
2160. SHRI E.T. MOHAMMED BASHEER:
Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether India has entered into an agreement with the European Union following the discussion at India-European Union Summit held in Brussels;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the areas of agreement where India and European Union have decided to work together; and
(c) the details of steps taken for the implementation of the same?

(a) to (c) Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Brussels on 30th March 2016 for 13th India-EU Summit and held discussions with the EU leadership. Following the discussions, a Joint Statement was issued identifying mutual areas for cooperation along with Joint Declarations on the Fight Against Terrorism, Common Agenda for Migration and Mobility, Water Partnership and Clean Energy and Climate Partnership. India and EU are engaged with each other to take forward cooperation in all these areas and to strengthen India-EU Strategic Partnership. An MoU on Water Partnership was signed between India and EU during the visit of EU Commissioner, Mr. Karmenu Vella in October, 2016 as a follow-up to the Joint Declaration on Water Partnership.
