Foreign Office Consultations between India-New Zealand, New Delhi (December 05, 2017)

Secretary (East) Smt. Preeti Saran and Foreign Secretary of New Zealand Dr. Brook Barrington held Foreign Office Consultations between India and New Zealand in New Delhi on 5 December 2017. All aspects of bilateral relations were reviewed. India and New Zealand have witnessed a significant increase in bilateral interactions over the past few years. There is a growing convergence of strategic perspectives of the two countries.

India contributes second largest number of tourists to New Zealand. More than 30,000 Indian students study in various academic institutions in New Zealand. It may be recalled that on the margins of East Asia Summit in Manila in November 2017, Prime Ministers of the two countries had held a very fruitful meeting.

During his visit, Dr. Barrington also met Foreign Secretary Dr. S. Jaishankar, Defence Secretary Shri Sanjay Mitra and Commerce Secretary Smt. Rita A. Teotia. Dr. Barrington also called on MoS General (Retd) V.K. Singh.
