VIDESH BHAWAN IN ANDHRA PRADESH

4060. SHRI KANAKAMEDALA RAVINDRA KUMAR:

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Ministry had obtained certain piece/parcel of land from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh for setting up Videsh Bhavan in the year 2018;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the terms and conditions on which the piece/parcel of land was received from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh;

(c) whether the Ministry has utilized the piece/parcel of land that had been allotted by the State Government for the purpose for which the same was sought;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) if not, the reasons therefor?

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

(a) to (e) The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has acquired two acres of land in the Amaravati Government Complex for the purpose of construction of Integrated Office Complex of MEA. The land was allotted by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, on a 60–year lease, at a nominal rent of Rs 1/- per m² per annum and lease premium @ Rs 1 crore per acre. However, the State Government is yet to issue the Notification of Urban Guidelines for Amaravati Capital City. Accordingly Ministry has not been able to move forward on the proposed project.
