In supersession of all previous advisories for Indian nationals wishing to travel to Iraq, the following Travel Advisory for their intended visit to different areas in Iraq will take immediate effect:
- Indian nationals may consider travelling to the country except to the five Provinces of Iraq, namely Nineveh(Capital Mosul); Salahuddin (Capital Tikrit); Diyala (Capital Baquba); Al-Anbar (Capital Ramadi) and Kirkuk. Indian nationals are advised not to travel to the above listed five provinces in Iraq as some parts of these remain relatively unsafe due to the prevailing security situation.

They are further advised to register with the Embassy of India in Baghdad or Consulate General of India in Erbil prior to travelling to Iraq.
- Indian nationals wishing to travel for religious purposes, and having appropriate visa and return air-ticket, may travel for pilgrimage to the holy cities/places in Iraq except in provinces listed above as unsafe. They should not extend their religious pilgrimage to neighbouring Syria and not travel by road from Iraq to Syria or vice-versa.
- All visitors are advised to take appropriate security precautions while in Iraq and may contact Embassy of India as well as local authorities in case of any emergency.
