Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state :-
(a) the details of the Mission Sagar launched to provide essential aid to the Indian Ocean countries;
(b) the objectives and components under the scheme; and
(c) the progress made in this regard, country-wise?

(a & c) Mission Sagar is India’s initiative launched to extend necessary assistance, including medical and food supplies to countries in the Indian Ocean Region during COVID-19 pandemic. Under Mission Sagar, Indian Navy deployed ships to 15 friendly foreign countries and delivered cumulative assistance of more than 3,000 MT of food aid, over 300 MT Liquid Medical Oxygen, 900 Oxygen Concentrators and 20 ISO containers. Rapid Assistance Team of medical personnel were deployed to Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros in handling COVID-19 pandemic. India donated ‘Air evacuation pods’ indigenously designed by Indian Navy to health authorities of Mauritius and Seychelles to help medical evacuation during COVID-19 pandemic. The country-wise details are enclosed in Annexure-I.
(b) Mission Sagar launched by India during COVID-19 pandemic is practical demonstration towards a people-oriented developmental partnership with countries in the Indian Ocean Region and a testament to India’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR). India’s timely and crucial assistance during COVID-19 pandemic, under Mission Sagar, enhanced India’s credibility and role as a First Responder in crisis situations among countries in the region.
