Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala Mr. Carlos Raul Morales Moscoso visited India from 14-15 October 2014. He met External Affairs Minister on 15 October 2014. The entire gamut of bilateral relations including political, economic & commercial, consular and cultural issues were discussed by the two Ministers. They also discussed important regional and multilateral issues including India’s ongoing engagement with Community of Latin American Caribbean States (CELAC) and Central American Integration System (SICA).

External Affairs Minister also announced assistance of US$ 200,000 to Guatemala for disaster relief to deal with the ongoing drought in the country.
Visit of the Guatemalan Foreign Minister coincides with the India-LAC Investment Conclave being held on 15-16 October 2014 for which the Minister for Economy of Guatemala Mr. Sergio de la Torre is in India along with a business delegation. The Minister for Economy and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Rodrigo Vielmann also participated in the bilateral meetings. The participation of high level delegation accompanied by Guatemalan businessmen in the India-LAC Investment Conclave is expected to further strengthen the ties between the two countries.
