Press Release on 9th IBSA Trilateral Ministerial Commission Meeting, New York (September 27, 2018)

The External Affairs Minister of the Republic of India, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa, Ms. Lindiwe Sisulu and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Mr. Aloysio Nunes Ferreira, met on UNGA margins in New York on 27th September, 2018 for the 9th IBSA Trilateral Ministerial Commission Meeting.

The Ministers reviewed IBSA cooperation over last one year and exchanged views on furthering IBSA cooperation.

The Ministers exchanged views on various issues of global significance, including peace, security, countering terrorism, Development Cooperation and South-South Cooperation.

The Ministers agreed to continue to coordinate on South-South Cooperation in the run up to BAPA+40 events.

The Ministers also discussed IBSA events planned for 2018-19 to mark the fifteenth-anniversary of IBSA. The Ministers agreed to host these events in all three countries as well as on the margins of multilateral events/ fora.

The Ministers further agreed to enhance IBSA cooperation at multilateral fora.

India and South Africa thanked Brazil for organizing the meeting.
