A 100-member youth delegation, comprising of young achievers from diverse fields, including entrepreneurs, academicians, artists, sportspersons and influencers, from five Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) visited India on 21-28 March 2025, as part of India’s initiative at the first India-Central Asia Summit held virtually in January 2022
2. This was the third such youth delegation to visit India. This year’s focus state was Goa. The delegation called on Hon’ble Governor, Chief Minister and State Minister; and also visited Goa Chamber of Commerce and the Institute of Management. The delegation also visited IIT Delhi and interacted with the Director. Their itinerary also included a visit to Taj Mahal.
3. The delegation interacted with Hon’ble External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, and Minister of State for External Affairs, Shri. Kirti Vardhan Singh, who emphasized the salience of historical and cultural ties between India and Central Asia and encouraged the youth to play an active role in further strengthening of bilateral relations. The delegation also called on Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, and shared their experience.
4. The visit offered the youth delegation first-hand experience of India’s growth in education, its technological prowess and research capabilities, infrastructure development, and also provided them an opportunity to experience India’s rich history and vibrant cultural heritage.
5. India and Central Asia share deep-rooted historical relations marked by continuous exchange of peoples and ideas. The India-Central Asia Youth exchange initiative is a part of India’s efforts to further strengthen the millennia-old people-to-people bonds and cultural exchanges which are at the heart of its mutually beneficial and multifaceted contemporary partnerships with Central Asian countries.
