ISSUANCE OF MEDICAL VISA

Will the Minister of External Affairs be pleased to state :-
(a) whether Government has any plans to ease the process of issuance of medical visa for foreigners coming to India for their medical treatment;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the steps taken by Government to remove the bottlenecks faced in getting medical visas for Indians while going abroad for medical treatment;
(d) the total number of persons from countries abroad given medical visa in the last five years, year-wise, country-wide; and
(e) the destination city-wise data of the cities where medical treatment were given?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

(a & b) Government of India has initiated e-Visa scheme for easing the process of issuance of Medical Visas for foreigners coming to India for their medical treatment. Maximum numbers of e-Visas are processed/issued within the stipulated time frame of 72 hours from receiving the application. A total of 35,175 foreign nationals used the facility of e-Medical Visa in the year 2024.
(c) Formulation of the visa related policies, including visa acceptance or rejection, is a sovereign matter of the respective foreign country. However, Ministry of External Affairs takes up such matters with foreign coutries during Consular Dialogues and also during High Level visits.
(d) Details of Medical Visas issued in the last five years, Year-wise, country-wise is attached as Annexure A
.
(e) City-wise data, where medical treatments were given, is not available with this Ministry.
