- The King of Bhutan, His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and the Queen, Her Majesty Jetsun Pema Wangchuck, will pay a State Visit to India from October 23-31, 2011.
- This would be the first visit abroad of His Majesty after the Royal Wedding on 13 October 2011; and the fourth visit to India since his Coronation in November 2008. He had earlier paid a State Visit to India in December 2009; visited Kolkata as the Chief
Guest of the Convocation Ceremony of the Kolkata University in October 2010; and visited New Delhi as the Guest of Honour at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the National Defence College, of which he is an alumnus, also in October 2010.
- The visit of Their Majesties is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level visits and exchanges between India and Bhutan. While in India, the King of Bhutan will meet with the President of India, who will host a banquet in honour of His Majesty.
The Vice President and other Indian dignitaries will call on His Majesty. His Majesty the King of Bhutan will also hold talks with the Prime Minister of India. Their Majesties will also visit Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.
- The unique and special relations between India and Bhutan are characterized by everlasting friendship, deep understanding and mutual trust. The visit of His Majesty the King of Bhutan will contribute to further strengthening and expanding the close bilateral
relations between our two countries.
