We are unable to comprehend this! How can it be that hundreds of thousands of Nepalis live in India, and yet are unable to speak to their families. They must be disconnecting the call after merely exchanging greetings! I wish to change this. Let us both talk to the service providers in our respective countries. Connectivity cannot be like this. It should be possible to have a conversation conveniently and cheaply. That is how a relationship grows. The more the live conversation, the better the relationship, and we wish to promote this. You must have heard that during my oath-taking ceremony, I had invited Heads of Government from all the SAARC nations. I am grateful that the honourable Prime Minister (Koirala) was able to attend it at a very short notice. Why should SAARC nations not wage a war against poverty together? Let us all SAARC nations help each other to fight poverty. In this, we believe it is our responsibility, and we won’t be doing any charity in doing so, to take a lead role in lending a hand to all our brothers in the neighbourhood in their development journey. And this is why I have recently made an announcement that the benefits of space technology should be available to all SAARC countries. For that purpose, India will launch a SAARC satellite. This will provide benefits in the health and the education sectors to all SAARC countries including Nepal. It is certain to heap benefits in the coming days. You must have noticed that we are so close, and yet it took 17 years (for an Indian Prime Minister) to come here. This rankles. I promise you this shall not happen now. In fact, I am coming back in a few months for the SAARC summit. And I have decided that when I visit then, I shall go and pay obeisance to King Janak, and also to Lord Buddha. I am happy that an Authority is now being set up for the Pancheshwar Project, that had been discussed a long ago. If work on this 5600- megawatt project begins within a year, you can imagine what a big service it will be for Nepal! This is about five times the total amount of electricity that Nepal produces currently. It is not a small thing; development can scale
